Until the late 1800s, there was no such thing as the standard daily three-meal schedule, and few on the planet began their day with what we’d now call breakfast. And yet- every element that we now take for granted, from bacon and eggs to oatmeal, congee, and coffee- all of them have their own fascinating stories as to how they entered our collective culture and how they ultimately became the linchpins of the “most important meal of the day”. In this video we’re tracing the history of the morning meal, exploring the signature dishes and diving into how different cultures throughout history have approached the idea and food of breakfast.
